Right Here, Right Now
The intentionally ICE initiated, trump escalated scene in California is the opening of a new chapter in the fight to save our democracy.
We now have dear leader trump going boldly where only budding fascist dictators dare to go. The situation in Southern California could still be calmed, and returned to peaceful normalcy, but that would require reasonable judgement on the part of donald trump, and that is something we cannot count on and, if forced to bet, would probably bet against.
Mr. trump is trying to juice the deportation quotas and Homan’s ICE thugs appear to be intentionally employing jackboot tactics to comply. That there was resistance to the raids in California was no surprise and likely expected. That trump rushed to call out the National Guard is no surprise, either. Hegseth appears to almost be salivating over the possibility of adding active duty Marines into the mix.
What could go wrong !?!
The military, the United States Military, with combat vests and M-16s, has now been lined up in streets faced off against angry United States civilians. Rather than start quoting the Constitution and hoping that sanity re-enters this insanity (which would be admirable if it occurred, but is not a basket I would put all my eggs in at this point), this is a moment for determined additional steps…
As emphatically encouraged by many other authors, I say again; get angry and out on the streets this Saturday, June 14, for the No Kings protests all over the country and do it LOUDLY and PEACEFULLY !! Millions of protesters would be good. Tens of millions of protesters would be much better.
Every single member of the United States military, all of the branches, are family members, friends and ex-schoolmates of people who are not in the military. Many of those family members, friends and schoolmates are not in favor of where this country is going. If YOU know someone in the military whether active duty in California, Georgia or North Carolina, or a National Guard member in Mississippi, New York or Vermont; CALL THEM ! Text them ! Email or go visit, but in some way tell them that the military should not be used against civilians in this country ! Especially if you, or someone you know, knows an officer in the military - the kind that passes down commands or gives commands and TOOK AN OATH to defend, not trump, but the Constitution.
Please do it now. Right now. Or at least very soon. We have not captured the minds of the bobble-head Republican Party, but we are now at the point when we need to work on capturing the minds of our military. They are part of us. They live in our neighborhoods and we grew up together. They need to see that We the People are NOT the enemy.
Things are happening fast in our country. With the gang we now have driving this Titanic in Washington, we could see an epic crisis develop quickly. Right here.
I will close with a quote from a comment, on Steve Schmidt’s substack post, this AM by a person who identifies as Ken1 ;
